I. Petrić: Landscapes of Memory – new work
N. Mjaskovski: Cello Concerto in C minor, Op. 66
A. Glazunov: The Seasons, Op. 67
__________

The long serving former director of our orchestra, Ivo Petrić, will soon celebrate his 80th birthday – our congratulations to him will be in the form of the premiere performance of his new work Landscapes of Memory.
Although barely known to us in Slovenia, with his 27 symphonies Nikolai Myaskovsky is, alongside Prokofiev and Shostakovich, one of the greatest Russian symphonists of the 20th century. His Cello Concerto, dedicated to Mstislav Rostropovich, is possibly Myaskovsky’s most frequently performed work.
Alexander Glazunov wrote three ballets, of which The Seasons was the last to be completed. The ballet in four scenes had its premiere performance in 1900 in Saint Petersburg with choreography by the celebrated Marius Petipa.
